“I am a BRUIN”
I believe, I am responsible, I use my words, I am involved, and
I am nourished in mind, body, and soul!
Dear Parents,
Catholic Schools Week was great! It really helped to show that our school community is truly special. Students will continue to give their biography oral reports this week. The posters will be sent home after the presentations. This year was the finest group of posters I’ve ever had and they looked terrific for Open House. Hopefully you enjoyed creating them with your children as they learned how to make this type of project.
Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday. Students can wear free dress as long as they wear some red, pink, or white. Student Council will sell Heart-o-grams this week for $1.00 each. Valentine cards will be exchanged in class. Please do not address each card with a name—just have your child sign each one. This really helps make the exchange easier. A small treat can be attached to the card. Remember that each child could potentially receive 30 treats, so please keep any treats small and simple so that the children can carry them home. Also, be mindful of nut allergies in our class.
I want to remind you that third graders are supposed to earn a minimum of four points for Accelerated Reader each trimester. Many in our class did not meet this minimum last trimester. This trimester, if the minimum is not met, your child’s reading grade will be lowered by a half grade. The Accelerated Reader program has been installed on our new class computers, which will give the children more opportunities to test. Encourage your child to read in their free time and earn their points.
