STATEMENTS ARE GOING HOME TODAY

Please check today’s Family Envelope for your statement showing your volunteer hours, scrip requirement, P.T.O commitment, Church donation, Day Care and other fees due or completed.  The amount shown on the scrip line is what is still owed in profit for scrip.  You have until the end of May to purchase scrip.  After that date a final assessment of your scrip commitment will be made.

 

SEES CANDY SALE – ORDER THOSE CHOCOLATE EGGS BY APRIL 4!

Everyone loves chocolate in their Easter basket!  What a great way to do your shopping while supporting the music program/Spring Songfest.  The order form was in last week’s family envelope.  The deadline for turning in your order is Monday. April 4th.  We will receive 50% profit on all orders placed.

Please sign and return your report card envelope right away.  Keep the report card for your records.

 

TIDINGS ARTICLE

Please read the enclosed article from the Tidings.  I thought it might bring inspiration to you with all of the struggles many of us are facing these days!  “God knows what we need and hears what we long for.  And so we wait for our own miracles, and celebrate God’s faithfulness to us even when we find it difficult to sustain our faith.”

 

ENDOWMENT RAFFLE – ENTER TO WIN AN IPAD 2!

Tickets are available for sale in the office for only $10 for a chance to win a new 16 GB IPad 2.  The drawing will be on April 20th.    All proceeds will benefit the Endowment Dinner Dance to be held next fall.  Please purchase tickets through the family envelope or in the office.

 

2012 EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR REVIEW COMMITTEE

We are putting together a committee to investigate the pros and cons of extending the school year beginning with 2012/13.  The committee will report their findings to Mrs. Burke for her review and possible action.  Bill Hogan, a school parent and school board member, has agreed to chair the committee and will work closely with John Catalano, a parishioner and school board member.  Those interested in participating should contact Bill Hogan at (626) 963-1740.

 

GOLF TOURNAMENT – SIGN UP TODAY AND INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!

Our Annual Golf Tournament is on Monday, May 9th.   Please save the date!  If you need to complete hours, volunteers are needed to help along the course and for set up.  Please call the school if you are available to help.

Tdap IMMUNIZATION PROOF IS DUE NOW FOR GRADES 6, 7, and 8

A few students still need to bring in proof of the TdaP Booster immunization as required by law.  Please take care of this right away by bringing in the immunization record for your child.

 

 

GRADUATION FEE

The graduation fee of $200 for eighth grade students is due by the end of April.

 

 

 

FUNDS FOR JAPAN

We are going to do several different fundraising projects so that we can raise money for the people in Japan.  Everyone, the teachers, students, and aides have contributed to raising money.  The events are as follows:

 

  • Second Grade and Sixth Grade, Thursday, March 31st Big Sticks Sale for $1.00 
  • Aides to Aid Japan. Tuesday, April 5th Bake Sale during lunch and after school
  • Holy Childhood, Buck-a-Shoe/Sock Thursday, April 7th
  • Kindergarten and Eighth Grade make Flap Jacks 3 for $1.00, Friday, April 8th
  • First Grade and Seventh Grade Jelly Bean Contest, 2 guesses for $1.00, winner will be announced Thursday, April 21st and will win the jar of jellybeans.

 

BIRTHDAY BANNERS

Please order your child’s birthday banner 2 weeks in advance of their birthday.  The cost is $10.

 

THE BRUINS SNACK SHACK IS OPEN AND LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!

Volunteers are needed to man the booth during home games.  Please check the Bruins Scoreboard page for the schedule of home games and contact Stephanie Carrano if you can help.

PRAYERS

We especially ask that you continue to pray for Steve Measer.  We pray that Steve continues to get

better and overcomes all his medical obstacles.

 

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Peggy Eschardies, mother of Jeanne Talley, our accountant.  She passed away yesterday afternoon after a short illness.  Please keep Jeanne and her family in your prayers. 

 

Please continue to pray for Mr. Tom Lane.  He is going to have cancer surgery in the near future.  He is a supportive parishioner and a friend of Mrs. Burke.

 

 

DID YOU KNOW ‘Keep Kids Safe’ During Child Abuse Prevention Month

During April, Catholic school and religious education students throughout the Archdiocese will wear bright blue ribbon-shaped stickers that say “Keep Kids Safe.” The Archdiocese’s “Keep Kids Safe” campaign coincides with national Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Children will be reviewing important child safety lessons this month. Parishes are also being encouraged to include in their liturgies this month specially-prepared petitions that ask God to heal abuse victims and their families. “Keep Kids Safe” stickers may be ordered from the Archdiocese’s Safeguard the Children Office by emailing or calling Tim Olshefski at:   tolshefski@la-archdiocese.org or (213) 637-7508.

 

SCRIP NEWS   

Great Lakes Scrip Center will be closed on Monday, April 4, through Friday, April 8, for system maintenance and planned employee vacations.  No orders will be taken during that time.  GLSC will resume their normal business schedule on Monday, April 11.

Bath and Body Works will be increased from 13% to 18 % from April 11 through April 25.   

 

Visa Promotional Cards are not available at this time.

 

The Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta card is now at 14% instead of 9% until July.

 

Build-A-Bear Workshop® is offering a 2% bonus contribution effective March 28 through April 11. The cards will have a 10% non-profit contribution, instead of the normal 8%.

You can use VONS Scrip to purchase gasoline at the La Verne Vons store.  Check the bottom of your Vons receipts for an extra 10¢ off on each gallon of gas.
