

SPRING SONGFEST THIS FRIDAY – DON’T FORGET BLANKETS AND CHAIRS!
This Friday at 7:00 p.m. is our annual Spring Songfest featuring swing dancing and more. Dust off those dancing shoes, dig out your spiffiest vintage outfits, bob your hair and get ready for some fun! Students should meet up with their teacher at 6:45 p.m. in their designated class section on the grass. Dinner will be served starting at 6:00 p.m. to those who preordered by Thursday morning.
RECEPTION FOR FR. LAWRENCE AND FR. LESZEK
There will be a reception after the Saturday and Sunday masses June 11th and June 12th for Fr. Lawrence and Fr. Leszek because they will be leaving us. The school families have been asked to please donate packaged cookies. You can bring them to the school office with a volunteer coupon so that you can get volunteer hours. Thank you!

BARNES AND NOBLE BOOKFAIR SATURDAY, JUNE 4
Please plan to attend our Barnes and Noble Bookfair this Saturday and pick up some great gifts for graduations and Father’s Day. You can buy books for your summer reading. Most of the teachers are having the students read books from the Accelerated Reader List. You can look up Accelerated Reader books from www.arbookfind.com . You can search this site at home or at the Barnes and Nobel Book store. If you can search this site at home, it might be easier and quicker. Flyers are in your family envelope. Students who participate will receive a non-uniform dress pass good for Monday, June 6.
LUNCH TICKETS
There is a very good possibility that we are going to have a new lunch program for next year. A final decision has not been made as of today. Please use up your lunch tickets for this school year. You will not be able to use them with the new lunch program.
RELIGION SURVEYS
On the website is one more survey. This survey is to help the teachers and me when we begin to write our Religion In-depth. Would you be so kind to fill out this survey and submit it on the website? I really do appreciate all of you filling out these surveys for St. Dorothy School.

WORLDSTRIDES TRIPS – DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JUNE 8!
We had a very good response to our two trips, Washington, D.C., grades 7 and 8 and Sacramento, CA, grades 3 and 4. I will open the Washington, D.C. trip to high school siblings and I am going to open the Sacramento trip to grades 5 and 6 too. Ms. Sweetman showed the video to the students and she gave the students registration packets. THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO JUNE 8, 2011. If you have questions, please see Ms. Sweetman or Mrs. Burke. As of yesterday, there are 30 students signed up for the Washington trip and 37 students signed up for the Sacramento trip.
PERTUSSIS BOOSTER LAW
All students entering 7th through 12th grades in the 2011-2012 school year in California MUST be immunized with pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine booster called Tdap. Ralph’s’ Pharmacies are offering to give the vaccine booster and give the school a $5.00 donation.
ACCELERATED READER
The Accelerated Reader Program will end Friday, June 3rd for Grade 8 and Kindergarten, and Monday, June 6th for Grades 1 through 7. The store to use the students’ accumulated points will be open Tuesday, June 7th. Congratulations to all the students who were great readers this school year. Please keep the reading up over the summer months. Very special thanks to Mrs. Mary Willett for coordinating the Accelerated Reader Program. You are greatly appreciated!
YEARBOOK ORDER FORMS
Please return your Yearbook order form if you wish to reserve a yearbook. Fill it out and return it in the family envelope with a check or cash for $25.00. Included in the eighth grade graduation fee is the Yearbook fee.

The Academic Awards will be held on Thursday, June 2nd at 7:00 p.m. If your child has received an A in an academic subject for the three trimesters, they are eligible to receive an Academic Award. Your child should have received an invitation to the event last week if they qualified for an Academic Award..
JAMES A. MARTIN MEMORIAL WALK FOR PULMONARY HYPERTENSION
This is the first year for this inaugural fundraiser, James A. Martin Memorial Walk for Pulmonary Hypertension, coordinated by Bernadette Martin, Jim’s daughter. The family event will be held on Saturday, June 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas. Flyers were sent home last week about this event.
GRADUATION FEE PAST DUE
The graduation fee of $200 for eighth grade students is due now. If this fee is not paid by the end of May, your child will not be allowed to participate in the graduating fieldtrips and activities. If there is a problem, please see Mrs. Burke or Tina Gonzales today. Thank you!

LIFE TEEN CONFIRMATION
Life Teen Confirmation registration will be OPEN REGISTRATION this year. OPEN REGISTRATION will be held on Saturday, June 25th and Sunday, June 26th at 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Teen center in the Parish Hall. If this time is missed, registration will be by appointment only.

THE SCRIP REQUIREMENT FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR IS THAT YOU BUY SCRIP FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR THAT MAKES $300.00 IN PROFIT.
This information is on page 23 in your Parent Handbook, on the school contract, and on the website. I explained this policy at our parent meeting in February, 2010 and at the parent meeting in February 2011. It was discussed in the following parent letters: May 26th, 2010, June 2nd, 2010, June 9th, 2010, June 17th, 2010, and August 2nd, 2010. I apologize that we did not remind you about this new policy more during the school year.
