FROM THE SCRIP COORDINATOR/STUDENTS COUNCIL MODERATOR

The Student Council Food Drive is the week of November 15th -19th.   We are asking for tuna, juices, oil, crackers, baby food, pancake mix, syrup, jelly, jam, peanut butter, and beans.  Purchase your Stater Bros. scrip cards and receive your 6% profit for your scrip commitment.

HOMELESS SHELTER - Earn your school hours!

The St. Dorothy Homeless Shelter runs from December 17, 2010 through January 2, 2011.  The Clothing Boutique needs donations of new packages of socks and underwear.  We are asking each student to donate one package of each item.  A box is in the classrooms for donations.  Volunteers are needed to help sort and distribute these items to the homeless. If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Dean or Gina Butz at (626) 914-9172.   Earn your school hours by your contributions and your working hours.  Donations are requested according to the following plan:

1.    Grades K through 1st         children sizes

2.    Grades 2 through 4th         women sizes

3.    Grade 5 through 8th            men’s sizes

ABSENCES AND DISMISSALS

If your child is absent, he/she must return to school with a note from his/her parent stating why he/she was absent.  He/she will call you from school if he/she does not have this note.  Please call the school the morning of the absence to give us the reason.

If your child is going to be dismissed early, you must send a note to the teacher stating that he/she will be dismissed on that day.

Both are Archdiocesan and School policies.

SCHOOL LUNCHES

Please be aware that if your child orders a lunch in the morning and decides not to pick it up at lunchtime, you will still be charged for that lunch because the school is billed for that lunch.  Also, please keep track of the number of lunches your child/ren use by marking the menu.  That way you will know when to purchase more tickets.  We send a reminder with students but they do not always bring it home.

LOST AND FOUND

Parents, please label your children’s clothing and supplies with First and Last Name.  Everything with names on them has been returned to the children.   Please claim these items:  1 vest, 4 jackets,

2 sweatshirts, 1 boy’s  navy pants with belt size 12H,  and 3 lunch boxes.

FAMILY ENVELOPE HELPERS – PLEASE CALL BEFORE COMING

Mrs. Carter has offered to coordinate the workers for stuffing the Family Envelope on Wednesdays.  Please call her at 909-920-3075 before you come to stuff envelopes.  That way we will not have too many people showing up at the same time.  Thank you for your help and support.

PRAYERS

We especially ask that you continue to pray for Steve Measer.  We pray that Steve continues to get better and overcomes all his medical obstacles.

Please pray for good health for Mrs. Mary DuBois, grandmother of Nick Castro, Grade 8.  Mrs. DuBois has suffered through cancer surgery and cancer treatment.  Please pray for her through this next phase of recovery.
