6th, 7th, AND 8th GRADE PARENTS – IMMUNIZATION UPDATES NEEDED
Assembly Bill 354, now chaptered into California law, requires students to be immunized against pertussis (whooping cough). For the 2011-2012 school year, ALL students entering grades 7 through 12 will need to show proof of a Tdap booster before starting school. This requirement begins July 1, 2011 and can be met by receiving one dose of Tdap vaccine on/after the student’s 10th birthday.
If your child is 10 years or older and has not received the Tdap pertussis booster shot, please contact your doctor or health department. Please provide the school with the most recent copy of your child’s immunization record.
St. Dorothy School must receive proof of immunization by July 8, 2010. Students who have not met this requirement by that date will be excluded from school per state law.
Eighth grade students should meet this requirement prior to graduation so that the records can be forwarded on to the high schools.
Please contact Christine Lynch at school, ext 203 for any questions.
LET IT SNOW- BREAKFAST WITH SANTA!

For a mere $7 families feasted on scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, biscuits, coffee and juice. After breakfast they moved along to a field of snow, a bounce house, and crafts for all. The festivities lasted until 3:30 p.m.. Some families purchased hamburgers, hot dogs, hot chocolate, poinsettias, and visited the boutique.
I would like to thank Nicole and Terry Kent, Lana and Don Hiti, Bob Betros, Stephanie Carrano, Diane and Jim Tucker, Dorothy Marquez and the Student Council, and all the other families who contributed to this wonderful day. I would like to thank Religious Education, Bernadette Martin and Becky Harmon for all their work. This breakfast raised $700.00 for technology.

SCHOOL BOARD MARKETING COMMITTEE
In early 2011, we are planning to introduce a monthly St. Dorothy Bruin Newsletter to be distributed to all the parish and school families. This newsletter will tell about all the exciting happenings and upcoming events at our school. It is our goal to make this as professional as possible. Thus, we are looking for some parent volunteers with a background in graphic art industry and a family in the printing business that can help us to keep the cost to a minimum. If you can help in either of these areas, please contact Terry Kent at tkent91741@aol.com or cell phone number (626) 755-3098. Thank you in advance for your help.
PRAYERS
We especially ask that you continue to pray for Steve Measer. We pray that Steve continues to get better and overcomes all his medical obstacles.

Please pray for Mrs. Laura Pohopien, mother of Amanda, Kindergarten. Mrs. Pohopien is having foot surgery on Friday.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Dottie Fernandez who passed away on Tuesday. She was the parish secretary, wedding coordinator, and parish member for many years at St. Dorothy Parish.
DID YOU KNOW
It’s easy for kids to get sidetracked with all the sights, sounds, and smells surrounding us at holiday time. It is especially important to monitor your children when taking them through the mall during the Christmas season. If children become separated from you, teach them to look for a “safe stranger” who can help them. For example, a mom with kids or the cash register person can help a child who is lost. Avoid telling children to go to the “manager.” Any adult in a suit, who looks important, can look like the manager to a child. Children must be told never to leave the mall or store to go looking for you in the parking lot. Let them know that you would never go outside or leave until you are reunited -- no matter what anyone else tells them.
For particular help, you may call Assistance Ministry at 213 637 7650.
