SUMMER MESSAGE 

The faculty, staff, and I wish you a safe and fun summer vacation.  Please plan to spend some relaxing time with your family.  Continue to keep God in your lives throughout the summer by praying together and attending mass every Sunday.  Plan some academic activities for your children to help maintain their skills and keep them from getting bored.  Read books together and play board games.   We pray that we will see you all back safe and sound on Tuesday, August 27th for the first day of school. 

 

The first week of school, Tuesday, August 27th through Friday, August 30th will be half days for the entire student body, Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 8 with dismissal at 12:00 p.m..  The next week, Tuesday, September 3rd through Friday, September 6th will be half days for Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade, dismissal at 12:00 p.m..  Grades two through eight will have full days with dismissal at 3:00 p.m. except on Friday, dismissal at 2:00 p.m..

Day Care will be available for these two weeks.

 

 

CHOIR NOTES 

To all choir members singing at The War Memorial dedication, here is all the information you will need.  The dedication takes place at Glendora City Hall on Saturday June 22nd at 10:00 a.m..   The choir’s call time is 9:30 a.m..  Please meet on the stairs.  We will be singing “The National Anthem” and “Let There Be Peace On Earth”.   No binders are needed.  .  If you have questions, see Mrs. Dalton by Friday the 21st

 

REMEMBER:  1ST verse. Let there be peace on earth.   2nd verse.  Let peace begin with me

 

The attire is as follows:

Girls: WHITE shirts, plaid skirt or jumper, white knee socks or white fold over socks. School uniform shoes, please get them as clean as possible. Hair must be off the face.

Boys: WHITE shirts, school pants, No holes please. Black school shoes.

 

LAST CALL - WINE TASTING EVENT THIS SATURDAY

Please join us for our first annual wine tasting event. Invite your family, friends and co-workers to join in the fun. The event is this Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Mitchell/Munoz family has generously donated the use of their family estate (R & M Ranch located at 610 Los Cerritos Road in Glendora). The event will include Fine Wines, Appetizers, Desserts, Live Music, Silent Auction, and 50/50 drawing. Please use the order form included in last week's family envelope or purchase your tickets at the door. This event is adults over 21 only.

 

NEED VOLUNTEER HOURS? HERE ARE A FEW OPPORTUNITIES.

Donate one or more individual bottles of wine for our Wine Tasting Event. Unless an arrangement is made with the school office, the hours will be applied to the 2013/2014 school year. Buy Scrip for any retailer that sells wine (i.e. Vons, Sam’s Club), donate it to the Wine Tasting Event and the committee will do the shopping for you! Drop off your donations at the school office. One hour is worth $15.

 

SUMMER READING FOR THOSE ENTERING GRADES 3-8

All students entering grades 3-8 were given summer reading assignments by their teachers.  They will take the Accelerated Reader tests in September.  Keep reading all summer long!

 

BALANCE DUE STATEMENTS – ALL BALANCES WILL BE ADDED TO JUNE FACTS

Statements were sent to families listing what is owed for scrip, volunteer hours, church donations, tuition, day care and other items.   All balances not paid by May 30 will be added to your FACTS account.

 

PICK UP ALL MEDICINE IN HEALTH ROOM

Please pick up your medicine in the Health Room by Friday.  Any medication left will be thrown away.

 

SUPPLY LIST FOR 2013-14

Tdap BOOSTER IMMUNIZATION PROOF DUE FOR SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS

The Tdap booster is required for 7th grade admission.  Provide the school with proof of immunization on or after the 10th birthday.  Students without proof cannot be admitted to school in the fall. 

 

CONTINUE TO PURCHASE SCRIP ALL SUMMER LONG

Families who purchase scrip regularly throughout the summer find it much easier to complete their scrip requirements.  Think of scrip when you travel, eat out or purchase birthday or wedding gifts.

 

GREAT LAKES – Order by 9:00 a.m. Mondays.  Visit www.glscrip.com for a complete list of scrip.  Great Lakes Scrip can be ordered throughout the summer. Send a separate check for this scrip

 

Regular scrip is available in the office.  Call extension 214 for Dorothy Marquez to see if she is available before you come.  The church bookkeeper is also available to sell scrip.

 

PRAYERS

We especially ask that you continue to pray for Steve Measer.  We pray that Steve continues to feel well and thank God for Steve’s return to work.

 

Please pray for Nick Vena, father of Madelyn in grade 2 and Michaela in grade 4.  He had surgery recently and is recovering.

 

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Mr. Fred Armenta, great-grandfather of Ryan Gonzales in grade 7, Alyssa Salgado in grade 5 and Michael Marquez in grade 4.  He is also the grandfather of Tina Gonzales, our tuition accountant.  Please keep his family in your prayers.

 

BACKPACKS FOR THE HOMELESS

Please donate your old, useable backpacks to the church for the homeless when they visit in December.

 

ALASKAN CRUISE FUNDRAISER – START PACKING NOW!

Getaways is offering a seven day cruise on the Golden Princess to Alaska starting on September 15.  The school will get a percentage of each ticket sold.   Informational flyers are in the office.

  3. FUNDING FACTORY RECYCLING – This program accepts CELL PHONES and USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES ONLY for recycling.  NO TONER CARTRIDGES ARE ACCEPTED!  Our school receives points for working cell phones and printer cartridges.
