DID YOU KNOW?Learn to stop inappropriate behavior before it happens.
Child safety tip:Teach your child to respect the word “stop”!Teach your preschooler that “stop” means “stop”, and that your child has the right to stop people from touching his or her body.Obviously, exceptions will have to be made for doctors and parents, but even parents must listen when a child doesn’t want to be tickled or hugged anymore.Reinforcing this excellent lesson gives your child the power to recognize – and stop – “bad touching” by others if it should happen. For particular help, call the Assistance Ministry at (213) 637-7650.
SAFETY SEAT CHECKUP
There will be a Safety Seat Checkup Wednesday, October 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Glendora Market Place in front of Sam’s Club. Most children under the age of 8-10 need a booster! The California Office of Traffic Safety, Glendora Police Department, and Sam’s Club are sponsoring this program. For a checkup appointment call (310) 222-6860.If you do not have an appointment, there may be a wait of more than one hour or your may be turned away.

Enclosed in last week’s Family Envelope were St.DorothySchool envelopes made out with your family name. Please be sure to fill out the envelope as it applies to your choice, whether you ARE accepting the opt out program or you are NOT accepting the opt out program. If you choose to participate in the opt out program, please make out your check to St. Dorothy P.T.O. for $200.00 or more if you wish. The deadline for receiving these checks is Wednesday, October 15th.
The families who do not choose the opt out program will be required to participate in the fundraisers so that the school will receive a $200.00 profit. For example, the Westcoast Fundraiser that is now running offers about 50 % profit. Thus, if you purchase $100.00 of merchandise, the school will get $50.00 in profit. This is not to say that all fundraisers give us 50% profit. There will also be a spring fundraiser with about a 50% profit.
There will be fun events throughout the school year.We are thinking about events such as a Mother/Daughter Tea, Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Bowling, Girls Night Out, and/or A Taste of St. Dorothy’s.At these events, we will be looking for donations of raffle items, decorations, etc. These donation amounts will also count towards your fundraising contributions.
It has always been difficult about itemizing your contributions. All we ask is that each family does their fair share and P.T.O. will be able to give St.DorothySchool their $40,000.00 commitment.
Here is an example of a family who participates in the fundraising:
